WHO IS MERMIE?

Mermie is FILET LACE BY THE SEA.  

She was born in US in April 17, 2001 because of the repetitive requests of my filet-lacemaker friends in France, Canada and the United States. Some of them wanted the 'so rare' knotted net, that was impossible to find at that time; and the new friends wanted me to show them how to do the Linen stitch. Frustrated by the physical distance separating us, and the lack of detailed information elsewhere, they asked me to share my "stash of netting" (oh my!!) and put my notes on paper. The result is a full time job that I love!!

Bonjour!

My name is MARIE-JO QUINAULT. I am from Québec (Canada). I have three citizenships: My root is French-Canadian by my birth in Montréal, French because of my parents and American because of my husband. I speak, write and read French, English with a little bit of Spanish.

FILET LACE is my passion.  After more than 36 years, I still get Goosebumps when I talk about this subject. 

I am a published author of an instruction book (item FL01): "Filet Lace - Introduction to the Linen Stitch", a well illustrated method with 3 levels of learning and 400 pictures, making it easier to learn all by yourself the almost forgotten basic stitch of Filet Lace, the Linen Stitch (le Point de Toile). It has never been done before.

Our online store will supply you with all the material and tools you need: the hard to find Knotted Net, accessories and tools, the Starting Kits (item FL104) & Patterns for this specific stitch.
